Galatasaray have had a huge positive news after coach Fatih Terim was able to make a full recovery from the coronavirus scare. The legendary manager was found positive with the virus, which has been spreading around the globe like wildfire. A number of football personnel have already tested positive and Fatih Terim has not been spared.
However, there are a lot of concerns within Galatasaray considering that the manager is one of the oldest in the Turkish league at 66 years of age. Since the virus seems to have a higher fatality rate when it comes to older individuals, there were a lot of prayers for Terim to get back in good health.
Terim first tested positive for the virus on March 23. There have been three players from Galatasaray who have tested positive. This includes deputy chairman Yusuf Günay and vice president Abdurrahim Albayrak. The latter was one of the 1st to get infected, as he tested positive on 18th March. This was followed by Terim and then Günay. Unfortunately, Albayrak is still in hospital while the other two have recovered. Terim is considered as one of the greatest managers in Galatasaray’s history. He has been able to get Galatasaray to eight Süper Lig titles with the last coming in the 2018-19 campaign. The 66-year-old also led Galatasaray to the UEFA Cup in 2000.
“I feel so beautiful and special that I feel every prayer in my heart. This is a test for all of us and we will pass this test with your prayers and your good wishes. I’m fine, and I hope I’m going to get better. I thank every one of you in my heart,” said Terim after testing positive. All football in Turkish Süper Lig has been suspended after the coronavirus scare. Galatasaray are third in the division – behind Trabzonspor and Istanbul Basaksehir.
