David N’Gog, the French professional footballer who currently plays as a striker for Greece super league club Panionios, is adjudged to be one of the worst strikers to have ever played in the Premier League.

N’Gog started his football career with French Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain, where he made his senior debut in 2006 before he proceeded to win the Coupe de la Ligue in 2008.

English Premier League giant Liverpool signed him at the beginning of the 2008–09 season. But after playing for Liverpool for three years, he moved to fellow Premier League club Bolton Wanderers, where he was relegated with them after just one season.

Upon signing Ngog from Paris Saint-Germain as a 19-year-old in 2008, the then Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez was quoted saying: “Liverpool are finding players like Ngog, players with quality who are not a high price.”

Unfortunately, after three seasons on the Merseyside, Reds fans found out that the £1.5m fee paid to sign the player was not quite the bargain anticipated by Rafa Benitez

A meager nine goals in 63 Premier League appearances for Liverpool during his time at Anfield somehow convinced Bolton Wanderers to cough out £4m for the Liverpool flop. This transaction means that Liverpool actually made a £2.5m profit on him! In 33 top-flight games in which he featured for Bolton, Ngog only managed to find the net just three times as the Lancashire side were relegated in 2011-12.

A last shot at the top-flight Premier League football saw Ngog managed three appearances – unsurprisingly without a goal – for Swansea City while on loan in 2014 before he was signed by Stade de reims, A club in his native France before moving to Greek club Panionios where he currently plays.

Three Premier League sides have taken a gamble on him to date, and it’s quite unsure if any other team in England will be interested in signing him.
